What Types of Volunteering Activities can I help with?

You choose……we are always looking for people to help with fundraising, decorating and building, general gardening, participating in events or you may have a specialist skill that you would like to offer? We are also looking for volunteers to help support our Horse Riding for the Disabled Facility by providing support to riders through leading horses, side walking, aiding mounting etc.

Does it matter how often I can come?

No, your time and enthusiasm is what is important.

Do I have to like animals?

It would help as we do have quite a few, but our gardens are peaceful and tranquil (apart from the odd worm!)

What is in it for you?

You can learn new skills
Have fun!
Enjoy the fresh air and stay fit
Make a difference to someone’s life
Make new friends
Be part of something special!

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I have to be before I can volunteer?

Volunteers need to be 13 years or over. There is no upper age limit.

What about insurance?

The Farm provides all volunteers with public liability and personal accident insurance cover whilst they are volunteering.

Would I be asked to complete a CRB disclosure check?

Yes. All volunteers are required to undergo a disclosure check as they will be volunteering with vulnerable adults and children. This can be arranged through the Farm.

I would like to volunteer at the moment, but I am trying to find a job?

If you’re trying to get a job, volunteering can be a great way to get back into employment or to even change the direction of your career. Don’t forget to always put any volunteering experience on your CV as it may give you that little edge over other applicants – you’ll definitely have more to talk about in an interview.
