RDA Horse Riding

More than one hundred disabled people  ride at the farm every week under the supervision of our dedicated staff and approved volunteers.

We are approved by The Riding for the Disabled Association and fully insured. The riding arena is purpose built with a covered roof and lighting.  We cater for disabled users throughout the whole site including specialised mounting facilities for horse riding. At present we do not have a hoist but we hope to have one in the near future. We have a selection of user friendly horses for children and adults up to a weight limit of 14 stones.

Horse riding can result in the following outcomes:-

*Improved physical and mental well being

*Learning

*Sense of achievement

*Happiness

Many users are initially afraid of horses but with encouragement this fear is overcome and when they finally learn to ride a horse, their improved confidence and sense of achievement is very clear to see.

Feedback from users, includes the following:

*Brings a new dimension to a restricted life

*Provides a positive, unique and enjoyable activity

*Has therapeutic benefit

*Fosters a sense of achievement
